Condensation could easily form in the lower parts of the MV switchgear unless the floor is properly sealed.
The actual structure of the substation (if in disrepair) and its entrance doors are the points where dust, corrosive and/ or inflammable fumes or gas, vapours or salt can enter. The first step to take is to ensure that the outer cladding is proof against such pollutants. The doors must be equipped with closing mechanisms that prevent them from remaining open after the personnel have entered. A further barrier could be to build an antechamber immediately after the entrance door to the substation.
