The installation process of the modules in the control system is designed for convenience and reliability. The modules easily slide into card guides located within the control's chassis and then plug directly into the motherboard, ensuring a secure and stable connection.
To firmly hold the modules in place, two screws are employed one positioned at the top and another at the bottom of the front panel. These screws provide robust support, preventing any unintended movement or dislodging of the modules during operation.
For user-friendly handling, each module is equipped with two handles one located at the top and the other at the bottom. These handles serve a crucial function. When toggled or pushed outward, they move the modules out slightly, creating enough space for the boards to disengage from the motherboard connectors. This thoughtful design feature streamlines the process of installing, removing, or replacing the modules, allowing for quick and hassle-free maintenance.
In the specific configuration described, the control system includes three 24/8 Analog I/O modules. These modules play a central role in acquiring and processing analog signals. To facilitate efficient data transmission, each module is connected through two high-density 62 conductor analog cables. This results in six cables in total, with two cables coming from each module.
These six cables link the three I/O modules to two I/O FTMs (Field Termination Modules). The FTMs serve as intermediary interfaces, enabling all inputs and outputs from the modules to be accessed conveniently. This design choice streamlines the connection process and enhances overall system functionality.
The front panel of each 24/8 Analog I/O module features two sub D connectors. The top sub D connector houses the first half of the channels, encompassing analog input channels 1 to 12 and analog output channels 1 to 4. The bottom sub D connector, on the other hand, contains the second half of the I/O channels.
This organized arrangement ensures easy identification and accessibility of the different channels, simplifying the setup and configuration of the analog input and output signals. The sub D connectors offer a compact and reliable solution for interfacing with other components in the control system, enhancing efficiency and ease of use.
