According to Baur & Reinhardt (2020), the integration of PLCs with IoT allows for real-time data collection and remote monitoring of industrial processes. This provides engineers and operators with detailed insights into machine performance, allowing for predictive maintenance and optimized operations. Zhang et al. (2019) emphasized how PLCs can be connected to cloudbased systems, enabling large-scale data analytics and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) for process optimization.
